Tilly Moments: A Tilly Sandwich!

My Tilly, my beautiful SMS angel just can't help herself! It's true! She just cannot help being a natural comic and keeping us in stitches. She can turn the ordinary into the insanely funny in a heartbeat and her accompanying giggles and laughter tears, if we could bottle them, would raise fortunes with their extreme cuteness.

One of the more off-beat and hysterically funny aspects of Tilly's personality, is her fascination with sandwich boards! She just loves them, she loves  the sound they make when you bash them, she loves the fact she can chase round them, but mostly she loves the fact you can walk under them.

The only problem she has is getting back out again! Her lack of gross-motor planning skills makes this surprisingly difficult for her, resulting in many moments of hilarity as we try to extract her...after taking pictures of course, if the camera is at hand! (is that bad of me?)

And so I wanted to share some sandwiched Tilly moments with you! This is what happens when you have SMS along for the ride... even sandwich boards become an adventure!

Tilly, we love you to the moon and back for all the unexpected laughter and joy you bring to us all! Our life would seem so dull now without you as a part! Thank you for being your unique and adorable you. xx

Daydream Believer! Forget-Me-Not Friday.

OK everyone, I have to let you know i am feeling a real sense of panic in my heart for these kiddies this week! Every day I grieve for the orphans transferred to adult mental institutions, so young and yet left to languish, forgotten and unloved! I cannot comprehend what must go through their minds and the cruelty of this life of endless nothing! I cannot comprehend how desperately they must yearn to be loved! I cannot comprehend that this world in which we live could allow this to happen! And yet ON TOP of these feelings, this sense of panic has come creeping in! These beautiful children are so needy and are ageing out, a time bomb ticks over their heads as we sit and ponder whether to help or not!

CAN WE STOP WEIGHING UP IF WE SHOULD AND JUST HELP!!!!

I realise that not everyone can or even should adopt but everyone can help, even if its just re posting about a child or linking up here on Fridays!  Imagine if every one of my 78 followers helped to direct their own readers here? Just think how many more people would see these children! Just think how greater the chance of finding a Mummy. At its most basic this may just be a numbers game people! And then follow the thinking through...if these new visitors did the same thing, WOW THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!

Today, I ask if you are reading this please do this tiniest of things for these children, direct your readers here and also direct them to REECE'S RAINBOW! A little thing like this could cause a ripple affect so huge. And for those of you who may be nervous to be perceived as 'preaching about orphans' then hey just send people over for a great chance to participate in writing prompts and a linkup! The effect is the same, people will SEE!

THE LINKUPS ARE GETTING ABOUT 70 VIEWS...CAN WE BEAT IT?
CAN WE SMASH THAT?
WE CAN AS A TEAM! PLEASE JOIN THE FORGET-ME-NOT FRIDAY TEAM FOR THESE CHILDREN!
RE-POST ON FACE BOOK, TWITTER, YOUR BLOG AND BLOG COMMUNITIES TO INCREASE TRAFFIC AND THE CHANCES OF FINDING THESE CHILDREN FAMILIES!

So this week I ask you to forgive my pleading, forgive my panic, forgive my desperation BUT MOSTLY I ask for your ACTION!

And if your heart feels as mine when you look at these children I say search your soul to see if you could make room to love them? Could you follow your heart, follow that voice inside that wont be silenced and take action by providing a forever home? These children need families, without them they will spend the rest of their lives in adult mental institutions, unloved, starving and left in cots! That's reality...that's not the ranting of a mummy blogger who is exaggerating!

And amidst this panic, I found out this week that beautiful Francine is in the same orphanage as the equally beautiful Reid! I found a real comfort in knowing this, it kind of pieced her life together a little for me. And then i looked at them and caught my breath at how alike they are.

Just months apart in age and couldn't they just be siblings! They both have cerebral palsy and they are both obviously fighters with wonderful spirits! And then a daydream began that just would not listen to reason or go away! A dream about them staying together! A dream about them being brought home into a loving family to shine together! A dream of them laughing and playing and knowing what it is to be alive, together! So this dream has me and wont go away and i don't understand it but i have really felt compelled to share it! You may have to humour me for this one or you to may be feeling the same thing I am in my heart!
If you are then could you be their Mummy?

 Could you?

Would you?

Francine

Reid

This is what Reece's Rainbow has to say about both of these wonderful children.

Francine:
Girl, Born May 2006

Francine has been waiting a long time for her forever family. She was born with CP, but you can see how well she is doing and how strong she is physically. She is an orphanage favorite.

From her medical records: cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia, delay of psychospeech development

From a family who visited with her in August 2010: "I just wanted to say that Francine is mobile and doesn't let her CP stop her! She was a very sweet little girl and her face beamed when she smiled! She has beautiful light blue eyes and dark hair. I know she would make a wonderful daughter. If anyone asks about her I'd love tell them more about her. "

From an email I received, '' I adopted from Francine's orphanage last fall and she just stole my heart. What a beautiful little girl! ''
...........................................................

Reid:
BOY, born August 2, 2006

Reid is a happy little boy who wants his own family very much! He is not walking yet, but will really blossom with the proper therapy and a loving family. From his medical records: cerebral palsy, epilepsy, spastic diplegia, penile hypospadias, mental retardation, delay of physical development, hypotheriosis, crossed eyes.

...................................................

Just 3 months apart in age! What an adventure it would be to see this pair blossom together...I would call that an adventure of a lifetime! I have checked with Reece's Rainbow and they could be adopted together. I was so pleased to read this... but then I continued to read and the sentence ended...'unless Francine gets transferred soon, which she might because of her age'

Oh boy to see those words in print!!! These children have such limited time for somebody to step in with their love, listen to their heart and give them a family!

Is it YOU?

And now for the Forget-Me-Not Friday gallery of waiting children who just like Francine and Reid so need a family! Please follow the link on their name to find out more about each child at Reece's Rainbow. Thank you to all the warriors who are taking part in these Friday linkups and for all you do for these children.

And if you were wondering why i haven't used a writing prompt this week...think again, i have!

Prompt 4 was a picture post about a time you saw heaven! Well this gallery is just that!

These faces pull me closer to heaven than i have ever been in my life!! These children make me want to sacrifice, they make me want to LOVE like i have never loved before! They make me forget about myself! They make me want to MOVE MOUNTAINS to save them. They make me pray and believe for miracles like nothing ever has before. They make me search out good in people, look for love, look for support with fundraising, look for the person that could and will bring them home! I am believing for miracles and good as if i am already in Heaven basking in Glory! If anything represented Heaven to me more than these faces I certainly can't think what it could be!

Emmitt is a sweet boy. He is living in one of the mental institutions, and has been for many years, yet he remains sweet, intelligent, and kind. Two of our adopting families met him while they were there, and are pleading for a family to save him. From his medical records: myelomeningocele (spina bifida) From one of our adoptive families: " Emmitt has a severe deformity of his legs. He cannot walk at all. He is very friendly, funny, and talkative. He desperately seeks out attention. He was talking to my husband, and holding Zack's hand, which he then put on top of his head for Zack to rub his hair. He is extremely intelligent, and just precious! I brought him paper and crayons, and he drew me a flower "

Boy, Born December 28, 2006

FACING IMMINENT TRANSFER!
Andrey is a tiny little monkey! HE REALLY NEEDS A FAMILY. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He has also has strabismus, which can be corrected surgically here in the US. Andrey will greatly benefit from early intervention therapy, and will just blossom the way all of our other children have! This little one has an ASD and a PDA, with some impairment of circulation. He will need heart surgery when he gets home.

Simon

And now for a number of photographs i have been sent of the lovely Victoria.
To read more about this amazing little girl who so needs a family visit here and read Andrea's words about her! Andrea got to know Victoria whilst working in the orphanages in eastern Europe and her words allow us in turn to know these children better. Thank you so much Andrea.

Victoria.I get so sad when i see
these pictures of her growing up!
These should be in a family album!

Victoria now.

This is the information Reece's Rainbow has about Victoria...
Girl, Born November 13, 2005
HELP, I HAVE ALREADY BEEN TRANSFERRED!

Victoria is too cute! She has brown hair and blue eyes, and is in the same orphanage as Andriy and several other children with Down syndrome. Victoria is a smart little girl and very *able*. From her medical records: congenital cataract of both eyes (blind), microphtalm, delay of psychological development. Outgoing, can walk independently, knows her way around in her group, is interested in studies, responds well when adults refer to her.

From a missionary who has spent time with Victoria: "What a sweetheart! Gentle, calm, outgoing, and very affectionate. She has made a lot of progress since she was at the baby orphanage. Vika has had some self-harming tendencies but the workers have been working with her on that… Whenever she would start banging her head they would pick her up, lay her across their lap and start massaging her back. Now, when she gets upset she goes to them and lays across their lap all on her own, no longer resorting to self-harming behaviours. Vika is independent and was walking around all over the room hardly ever bumping into anything. She doesn't speak much but she does say "Mama". She also knows how to let the workers know when she needs to go to the bathroom. They also said that her fine motor skills have greatly improved as well. Finally, she is a real snuggler. First thing she did when I called her over to me was climb up onto my lap. I tried to get better pictures of her but all she wanted to do was cuddle in close… how could I say no to that???"

This orphanage is one of the good ones. Small, with all higher functioning special needs children of "preschool" age (ages 4-8). There were only 6 kids in Victoria and "Andriy"'s room and two workers caring for them. It was clear that workers care about them very much and showed them plenty of love and affection. The director is not only open to adoption, she is actively looking for families for all of the kids so that they don't have to be transferred once they turn 8-years-old! Unfortunately, "Andriy" and Vika are in the lowest functioning group and they usually have a hard time finding families for those kids… but maybe that's something RR can help with :)
...........................................................................................................................................

I am thrilled to be linking up every Friday with 3 awesome ladies who also have big hearts for these children. They all do special Friday posts to find these angels forever families. Go visit Mandy over at, 'Our Adoption Story', she also has an awesome giveaway running so don't miss out! And then visit the amazing Andrea at 'Taking God's Love To The Ends Of The Earth'. and then go give some blogworld love to Julia over at Micha Six Eight.

Popstar 3: Daddy Promises Way More Than He Can Deliver!

We realised we had messed up pretty quickly! Broken guttering, roof work needed but hey lets build a conservatory first! And now to get to that roof, a ladder suddenly insufficient and scaffolding towers straddling the build required…oh dear, cart before the horse time!

So one very wet weekend, grumpy scaffolding men hating the British summer weather arrived, quickly sealing us away from our back garden with great big dirty scaffolding poles. The kids looked on fascinated.

‘Daddy what are they doing?’, a curious Poppy asked.

‘Building a tower in the garden darling’, Daddy’s innocent reply.

Accompanied with squeals of excitement, my kids then disappeared with Daddy to cheer on progress from upstairs windows, as scaffolding began to swamp our house.

Soon, the finger prints and nose smudges of excited little people covered every window. The not so excited, very wet and even grumpier men finally finished and began to pack away.

‘Where are they going Daddy?’ asked a very surprised Poppy.

‘They are going home darling, they have finished!’

Cue my pop stars face crumpling into disbelief. ‘But they haven’t finished Daddy!’ she cried with ever mounting disappointment! ‘You said they were building a tower!

‘Yes they have Poppy.’

Transformed by soul piercing disbelief she wailed,

‘THAT’S NOT A TOWER DADDY THAT’S JUST A LOAD OF OLD POLES!!’

As tears were wiped away we realised Daddy’s promise of a tower, when being processed by a 4 year old’s mind was way more fairytale than scaffolding! The dirty steel poles, greasily bracketed together and straddled with platforms of old timber miles away from the eagerly anticipated Rapunzel home of her dreams!

It would seem the distance between a scaffolding tower erected to fix broken guttering and a Rapunzel tower is unbridgeable. How quickly we forget the dreams of childhood as reality swamps our adult worlds. Can you imagine your first thoughts being of fairy tale magic? My beautiful Poppy reminds me daily of wondrous childhood dreams long forgotten. It’s so magical to catch glimpses of this world where everything is possible once more…even if sometimes you do end up very cross at Daddy!

The Sun Was Shining, I Remembered And Then I Forgot!

On Sunday the sun shone and everybody cheered! At last I could load the car (to bursting!) and get to the car boot to sell sell sell. It was an early start that saw me leaving the house just after 6 o'clock in the morning but you could feel the heat in the air even then and the promise of sunshine to come. And soon my memories held within little clothes, old toys, books and assorted oddments were laid out, priced and for sale...for Francine.

It was such a huge car boot, cars stretched as far as the eye could see and loads of people walked by, pausing to read the information I had pinned to my car about Francine and Reece's Rainbow. I got to talk to lots of lovely people about the plight of these children including one very surprised gentleman who had paused to see how much I wanted for my car!! He had seen the signs on it and thought I was selling it! Little did he know my husband had left me with very specific instructions NOT TO SELL THE CAR!! It was quite an eye opener to realise how many people have NO IDEA about these children and their awful situation. In a full day I only met 2 people who already knew!

And so, sitting in the boot of my car, slowly roasting in the sun, looking at Francine's face against blue sky, I was delivered a sharp visual reminder that heaven looks down on her and heaven sees and knows! And I thought on the words, 'I would ask God why he does nothing for these children, but i am too scared he may then ask the same of me!'

Then slowly, into my thoughts of Francine and the waiting children miles away, lost memories began to wind themselves into focus and suddenly I remembered all the years I car booted with my beautiful and much missed Dad. Clear memories flooded back of days gone by, memories of a world that felt so safe with Dad always making sure everything was alright. I smiled as I remembered the laughs, the treasures and the excitement we shared as we shopped in damp fields and rummaged through boxes together.

So my sunny Sunday was lovely for many reasons and to top it all i sold £130 pounds worth of stuff...for my friends across the pond that's $210! I still have half the stuff left and another sunny day of selling is now eagerly anticipated in order to continue to creep towards my $1000 selling target for Francine. Added to eBay selling my total towards this currently stands at $315, so I am crawling there slowly but still it's a forwards journey that makes me so very glad.

And then I forgot! Yep, amidst all the excitement, the counting money, the car unloading, the house tidying, the restoring of unsold items i forgot! I forgot to send out the Forget-Me-Not writing prompts!!!!They are coming I promise! xxx

Olga Time. xx

Today I wanted to talk about Olga! She is on my mind alot at the moment, possibly because we have a daily reminder of her in our kitchen...but I'll get to that in a minute!

Firstly for anybody who hasn't met her yet, this is beautiful Olga.

Isn't she an absolute darling and this is the information that Reece's Rainbow were given about her. 'Olga is a beautiful, blonde haired, blue eyed little girl. She is very high functioning and healthy! No heart problem at all. She feed and dresses her self, is working on her potty training, and even has several words. She is confident and a leader in the group.'

Blessed with designer genes and that little extra something called Down Syndrome, Olga lives in an Eastern European orphanage, without a family! But oh, times they are a changing sweet Olga, you just hang on in there, you don't know it yet but your mama and papa are coming to get you!!

Chris and Jenn Abell fell in love with Olga and decided to take action and are now moving mountains to get to their beautiful girl and bring her home. They blog about their journey at Saving Our Starfish...Bringing Olga Home

And so you ask, well what's in your kitchen! Ahh yes, my daily reminder of this beautiful child! Well I stumbled this month across a fantastic page on face Book, 'Jar of Hopes and Dreams'  and I just LOVE IT! This is what I read when I first clicked on the page...

Help Us Help Them. Give your change to make a change.

Hopes and Dreams that's what an adoptive family is full of.
God tells us that by small things are great things brought to pass.
So what if we took Him at His Word and did some small things to help a great thing come to pass?

Add your change to a jar--any jar, you can even decorate it if you are so inclined--for four weeks and see how that change can change an orphan's life...I will post a photo of the child we are trying to help. I will post their families blog. I am going to let God lead my heart in regards to whom the child will be.

My personal goal is to find a group of people to create a jar in which they will continue to donate their change. I know a few pennys or dimes don't seem like alot but once you start adding it up among a group it really does add up.

Thank you and many Blessings to all of you!

Such a simple little idea that shows how we can do something every day. And yes it's true, one jar of loose change on one shelf wont make much difference! And yes, it's also true that human nature can baulk when presented with a problem that is so huge it seems unsolvable and impossible to make a dent! But then I thought again and i began to imagine what could be done with 1000 jars...10,000 jars...100,000 jars! Couldn't we just make a difference then! Wouldn't that be a change with change! So i have been prompted by this wonderful idea into not letting the smallness of what i can do stop action altogether. I am going to do what I can, however small, whilst hoping and praying for an army to come together!

And guess who we have been collecting for during July...OLGA!

My kiddies had a blast making the label (Jenn if you want it when we are finished email me your address and I will post it to you). Sparkles and jewels filled the kitchen as we talked about beautiful Olga and the Abells and how families love each other. It was such a lovely morning.

And now our jar sits by the sink in the kitchen and every day I stare at Olga's name and I remember daily her beautiful face and the Abells, trying so hard to get to her! Poppy loves it and is delighting finding loose change around the place! She rushes to the jar and plops the money in. She even forgave me sneaking some of daddy's change out of his pockets, caught in the act she exclaimed, 'Mummy that's SO NAUGHTY! that's not yours that's daddy's', 'Poppy I'm going to put it in Olga's jar' 'Oh that's OK then Mummy, can I put it in?'

I love that my Popstar has such a kind heart and a place in her soul for these children. She is such a blessing!

And then to add to the jar excitement this month there has also been Christmas in July as well! It's all Stephanie's fault you know! The beautiful Stephanie over at Daily Smiles has been running a fantastic 'give to' for Olga! Not a giveaway but a give to... you did read that right! And it's brought the Christmas season into our summer home, complete with carols and all!

Stephanie has been selling some beautiful Christmas ornaments this month to present to the Abells, for their tree to celebrate their first Christmas with Olga. An ornament can be brought for just $10, you can add a personal message to its tag if you want to and they will be sent with loads of our love to this beautiful family. All the money raised is also going directly into the fund to bring Olga home. How awesome is that idea!

Now there are only 5 days left to participate and Stephanie is praying for a $500 target to be met. I think we should smash it if everyone visits here and takes part! Stephanie needs another 18 people to join in and she is there, she is so close!

So come on flight platform flyers, do your stuff!!! xxxxxx

And finally, I couldn't sign off tonight without giving you all a heads up for a HUGE GIVEAWAY for Francine happening really soon! keep visiting you wont want to miss it! Can't wait as I so want this beautiful child to find her family soon!
Francine
