Connections

Well things are crazy here with a commission starting next week in 2 schools in Dudley. I have been making resources to use and pulping paper but the more I work the more ideas I generate and I really need about 100 hours a day to even begin to get everything done I am wanting to get to. How can anybody ever be bored when you can live a creative life...whatever that is for you, gardening, cooking, learning or art!

I am loving my projects at the moment.

I am continuing to explore issues of motherhood and have recently gone off on a complete tangent with my techniques and am creating new canvas pieces with lots more drawing work.

The pieces here are called connections 1 and 2.

I am using the embryo imagery i collected from a textile owned by Angela Thompson and exploring ways to show how different and amazing our babies are and how a mother is connecting to all the potential blueprints for life inside her. Whether an egg develops or not into life, its potential is still there and as i am nearly 40 i feel my 'sell by date' rapidly approaching and along with it a great sadness at these last few life blueprints being lost and gone forever. I am now more than ever strongly connected to the life potential inside me, hence the titles.

This idea of being connected is one i am going to continue to explore and here are some sketch book pages to show how its a developing idea.

The blue are the connections made visible which becomes tangible when life forms with the umbilical cord.
